Change The World

STEP 1.

Warming up is longer today.

ERIC CLAPTON CHANGE THE WORLD

original of the song to remember

STEP 2.

This is our arrangement

LISTEN TO THE SONG AND TRY TO THINK OVER

THESE QUESTIONS

1. This is a'cappella version of our arrangement of this song, do we like it this way? How different it is from ours?

2. What did this choir do to make this music happen without any instruments?

3. Rhythm.  Will we use finger snaps to keep rhythm up?
If yes, we can already try to do it with the video.  Snaps come on the each 2-d and 4-th beat.

4. Soloists. What is the role of the soloist here? How to represent the melody at our best?

5. What would be most difficult for you in this piece?

6. What in this song is sounding like rock and what is given from blues?

STEP 3.

Full score presentation

LET'S START WORKING WITH THE SCORE

1. Play the video.  I have changed the score so, that all the middle voices are now living on separate staves. Look and listen. Recognize your part. Soloists should follow the places, where they should jump from line to line: there are arrows showing.

2. Think about the song's structure. How many parts are there. Are there repeats, how many? Where comes instrumental solo?

3. See, what your voice part and other parts do. How do voices functions change in verses and chorus parts?

4. This time I added the sound of Metronome for better understanding. Sing your part together with a video in this slow tempo, follow the notes and text and try to fit in.

5. Remember, that we designed some voices to swap up and down. This concerns basically Pia, Olle, Sam.

STEP 4.

Rehearse in voices

Here we are going to work in sections. Soloists and Bass section are working normal way.

Middle voices can rehears separately and also together.  Check all uncertain places very carefully. Good luck!

STEP 5.

Final performance

LET'S SING THE SONG AGAIN  AND ADD TO IT SOME SPARK

1. Here the tempo is higher and there is no Metronome.

Try to keep the rhythm and tempo.

2. Control your voice that it would sound in tune and you fit in to the full sound picture.

3. Let us think about the balance in voices. We have to make solos and bass line a bit louder and middle voices should be super-rhythmical and at the same time stay behind with volume levels.

4. Sing again and again, till things go smoothly and you admit the work is done and it is time to enjoy.

5. Try to think about this song as one piece and try to perform it as "one complete take". Think about energy level and how will we make it together in the future.
